Kilt Now Open
The Tilted Kilt Girls Have A New Home Clearwater John Reynaud, one of the developers of the Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery concept, has opened the first Florida Tilted Kilt. The newest sports pub in the Southeast is on Highway 19 North and Drew Street (2571 Drew Street) in Clearwater. Reynaud opened his pub on Sunday, September 30, with a VIP/Family/Friends party. Originator Mark DeMartino had been in town for several days helping his old friend get the pub ready for business. TKFO CEO Ron Lynch and his wife Deb and VP of Operation Rich Berns were also on hand for the party and the first day of operations. Reynaud, a former golf professional, was a member of the management team that originally developed the Tilted Kilt concept in Las Vegas, Nevada. “I used to spend a lot of time in Florida when I was in the golf business and I always thought that I would be back,” says Reynaud, who still manages a sub-par golf round here and there. “The Tilted Kilt is nothing but fun. When we opened in Las Vegas, it was a huge success. I think the Florida folks are going to enjoy it just as much,” Reynaud says. The Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery is a sports pub hybrid of the old public houses of Scotland, Ireland, England and the early U.S. The menu is an eclectic mix of both traditional “pub grub,” such as shepherd’s pie and fish and chips, and more modern creations from the Tilted Kilt chefs, such as Ultimate Club Wraps and Sloppy Janes (Joe’s sister). The sports pub pours ales and beers from around the world as well as virtually every other libation a customer could want. The stars of the show at The Tilted Kilt are the sharp and attractive young people who make up the Tilted Kilt cast. The wait staff includes lovely lasses in sexy kilts. The staff is more like a cast of actors as they assume the roles of hosts and hostesses in a super-friendly public house atmosphere. The decor includes warm woods and lighting, plus the Tilted Kilt’s own registered tartan. Contemporary and traditional Irish, Scottish, English and American themed curiosities cover the walls and ceilings. Humorous and slightly bawdy limericks are seen throughout the pub, creating an atmosphere that is fun and entertaining. Large plasma TV screens bring in sports events from around the globe, adding a modern accent to the old pub environment. For the traditionalists, there are darts and pocket billiards. Special events and live music round out the picture at the Tilted Kilt. There are Tilted Kilts in Las Vegas, Nevada; Tempe and Scottsdale, Arizona; and Round Rock, Texas. Besides Clearwater, pubs are opening in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and Houston, Texas. Others are planned for San Diego, Los Angeles, Denver, Chicago and other markets.
