MORENO VALLEY: Tilted Kilt will open June 20 at TownGate Promenade
Kilt Girls and Kilt Guys serve customers; the chain has locations in Temecula, Chino and Rancho Cucamonga
An eye-catching but long empty building in Moreno Valley will come to life this month as a Celtic sports bar.
The Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery has set an opening date of June 20 near the northwest corner of TownGate Promenade, according to a news release.
The Tilted Kilt is a Tempe, Ariz.-based chain known for its tartan-wearing food servers known as Kilt Girls and Kilt Guys as well as burgers with Samuel Adams Boston Lager caramelized onion relish.
It has locations in Temecula, Chino and Rancho Cucamonga.
In Moreno Valley, it will occupy free-standing building described by the property listing site LoopNet that was intended for a Johnny Carino’s Italian Restaurant but only partially completed.
Developer Fritz Duda Co. announced Johnny Carino’s for TownGate Promenade a decade ago as part of a mini-restaurant row intended to open by the end of 2008.
Two opened, Applebee’s and Mimi’s Cafe, and they will form a kind of full service triumvirate with Tilted Kilt. Panda Express and Baker’s Drive Thru are also part of TownGate Promenade farther south on Day Street.
TownGate Promenade, one of several Fritz Duda shopping centers in the area, has seen a burst of activity in recent months. Discount food chain Aldi built one of its first Southern California grocery stores there, and now two more retail buildings are being constructed around Aldi.
