Basketball fans joined the DiscoverSD crew at Tilted Kilt in East Village on Thursday, February 9th for the Tip-Off Party, as the Lakers took on the Celtics.
Game watchers enjoyed $3 Bud Lights and Shock Tops and $5 Purple Slam Dunk Shots all night. But the real winners were fans who scored the amazing giveaway prizes provided by the Luke Walton Foundation and of course, the Lakers who won against the Celtics in overtime 88-87. Paul Gasol and Kobe Bryant scored the most points for the Lakers with 52 combined points at the end of the night.
The Lakers-Celtics rivalry wasn’t the only competition. Major giveaways heated up with local fans in a silent auction, a raffle, and an intense shoot out. Some of the fantastic prizes were Lakers action figures, a Luke Walton jersey signed by the team, as well as the ball from the night’s game signed by the team. Winners of the auction donated generously and won a pair of VIP Lakers tickets to New Orleans Hornets home game on March 31st, along with a meet-and-greet.
“The Luke Walton Foundation is a great cause supporting children who have lost their parents from the war in the Middle East. We’re thankful to the Tilted Kilt and DiscoverSD for bringing us out here to spread the word and help fundraise for the foundation,” said Omar Salem representing the Luke Walton Foundation.
