Tilted Kilt opens in Overland Park

March 5, 2015

Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery, a Celtic-themed sports bar chain known for its scantily-clad servers, has opened its first area location in Overland Park.

New franchisee, TK KC LLC, leased the former Wil Jenny’s restaurant at 6700 W. 135th St. and has spent about six months renovating the space. It has more than 100 employees.

The area franchisee also plans to open two more Tilted Kilt locations in the Kansas City region.

“The great food is what we really pride ourselves on and it is what keeps guests coming back for more,” said Wail Nessim, president of TK KC LLC. “More and more people are seeking more convenient, casual dining options with a unique ambiance, innovative menu and unbeatable hospitality and we bring just that.”

At Tilted Kilt, female employees wear “sexy plaid kilts and matching plaid bras with white camp shirt,” and male employees wear traditional-length black kilts and black T-shirts.

The menu includes Irish dip (shaved rib eye steak topped with melted Swiss cheese and a side of hot au jus for dipping), Scottish cheesesteaks, blackened chicken flatbread, shepherd’s pie, Dublin Irish stew, and specialty burgers like the Inferno burger with grilled jalapenos and pepper jack cheese. Its chicken tenders and its fish and chips are made-to-order, and it also is known for its grilled or fried chicken wings.

Hours are 11 a.m. to midnight Monday through Thursday; 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday; and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday.

The Tempe, Ariz.-based company has 100 locations across the U.S. and in Canada. The first location opened in Las Vegas in 2003.

Wil Jenny’s restaurant and bar closed in March 2014 after nearly eight years of operations.
