Tilted Kilt restaurant to open in Raleigh

December 15, 2011

The Hooters sports bar on Falls of Neuse Road is about to get some competition when a Georgia-based franchise group opens the Triangle market’s first Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery in north Raleigh this spring.

Tilted Kilt is a Celtic-themed restaurant and bar that, like Hooters, features provocatively-dressed waitresses clothed in tartan halter tops and short kilts and caters heavily to a male demographic and sports-oriented patron.

Oh, and it sells beer and food as well – with a menu that features burgers, pizza, sandwiches, wraps and salads.

Tempe, Ariz.-based Tilted Kilt has only one other location in North Carolina and it’s located near the Carowinds amusement park in Charlotte.

The Raleigh Tilted Kilt, which is expected to open in March, will be located at 4516 Falls of Neuse Road in a stand-alone restaurant building next to a Carolina Ale House restaurant fronting the Falls Center shopping center.

The proposed Tilted Kilt location is also less than a half-mile from the Hooters restaurant location on Wake Forest Road.

The building has hosted several restaurants, including a Cooker restaurant, Taste of Thai and, for a short time, the Japan Inn restaurant.

The building has been empty for about six months, says Tyler Quinn with Kotis Properties of Greensboro, which manages the building. Unlike the Asian-style restaurants previously operating there, Tilted Kilt is a national franchise.
