A TILTED KILT PUB & EATERY may be coming to Springfield.
“We very much want to be in Springfield. We’re working hard to get a deal,” said Mark Hanby, vice president of development for the Tempe, Ariz.-based franchise. He said he has visited a potential site – in a new strip mall on the southwest side — and has been working with a developer.
“We’re waiting to get some final numbers and make a deal,” he said.
Tilted Kilt is a Celtic-themed sports pub with attractive female servers. The chain began in Las Vegas in 2003 and has grown to more than 50 around the nation. In Illinois, there are twelve Tilted Kilts, including in Peoria and Rockford.
The restaurant’s menu has Irish, Scottish, American and English influences. It includes Irish stew, shepherd’s pie, Reuben sandwiches and fish and chips, as well as traditional pub fare: burgers, wraps, wings (grilled and fried), flatbread pizzas, salads and sandwiches.
At the bar are a selection of beers (flagship beers are Guinness and Harp Lager), wines, mixed drinks and shots, such as the Irish Itch (Michael Collins Irish Whiskey, pineapple juice and Midori) and the Irish Flag — a layered shot that resembles the Irish flag. The pub’s motto is, “A cold beer never looked so good.”
