As proud Americans, we sure like to emulate other countries when it comes to their drinking habits. We turn to our neighbors in Mexico for Cinco de Mayo celebrations and look across the pond for St. Patty’s Day customs. There’s no mystery why Irish pubs are just as popular as any San Diego nightclub on an average night.
Another foundational element that unites our country with others is an inherent love of sports, from those on the field to those on the court. The Tilted Kilt in Mission Valley, recently opened on July 25th, emphasizes its sports culture in the midst of the other characteristics traditional of Irish, Scottish and British bar scenes. The pub continues the chain of sports bars that so rapidly captures our attention all year-round, aiming to include local, national and international sports into its coverage. This is the second Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery in San Diego County, its predecessor located in East Village near Petco Park.
Viewing the Action: At the Tilted Kilt in Mission Valley, your excessive sports action will be caught on the thirty-five 50” flat screen plasma TVs and six 180” high-definition projection screens. The plasma and projection TV screens access satellite feeds from sporting events around the world, making an ideal setting for all sports fans to gather. The customer comes first here, with exclusive ticket packages for professional football, basketball, baseball, and hockey, not to mention all of the college athletics you can handle. With an entire HD system, every seat in the house boasts itself as the best seat. Not to mention, the pub includes specially designed sound zones to enjoy multiple sporting events in different areas.
To fulfill more of your sports hunger, the new location is steps from the trolley stop for Qualcomm Stadium. Pre-gaming before Chargers football games or other sporting events is as convenient as it is authentic. “We were thrilled to find such a great location in Mission Valley. The combination of the downtown pub next to Petco Park and this new pub in Mission Valley, just minutes from Qualcomm Stadium as well as our pub in Temecula makes the Tilted Kilt the place to be for all sports,” said developer Jason Wood.
It’s imperative that your sports enthusiasm comes with a hearty appetite for a diverse menu that includes American favorites along with Irish, Scottish and British pub grub. The menu is an eclectic mix of appetizers, salads, burgers, sandwiches, pizzas, hearty entrees and desserts, including traditional eats such as shepherd’s pie and fish ‘n chips. The pub is open daily at 11am, meaning lunch, dinner, or in-between are all acceptable times to come in looking for a bite. Game-watching finger-foods fill the menu for an early game or late night match, with appetizers that resemble happy hour deals. You can wash it all down with 24 beers on tap, as well as a wide selection of spirits during the game.
Want more Irish fanfare? The Celtic atmosphere is enhanced by the warm woods, old world maps, and sports, music and movie memorabilia. Take on the practice of friendly pub competition with the supplied shuffleboard, pool and video games. Of course, many come in just to kick-back with the famous and friendly Tilted Kilt girls, scantily clad in their traditional kilts.
