A California franchisee has signed a deal with Tempe-based Tilted Kilt to bring the edgy sports bar concept to the Golden State.
NoCal Tilt Holdings LLC has partnered with Tilted Kilt to establish the brand in Northern California with restaurants in areas such as Sacramento, Fresno and Silicon Valley.
The franchisee is scouting locations for the first of 10 restaurants, which is slated to open by early next year. Terms of the deal call for all 10 stores to open over the next five years.
“We’re extremely confident that an experienced and business savvy partner like NoCal Tilt Holdings LLC will succeed in expanding our footprint in a tremendously appealing market like Northern California,” said Mark Hanby, vice president of development for Tilted Kilt, in a statement.
Operations for NoCal’s locations will be handled by longtime Tilted Kilt director of field operations, Justin Lemos, who helped open more than 50 Tilted Kilt restaurants while developing the chain’s operations, management and training programs.
“Expansion plans will be in very capable hands under Justin who knows the brand from top to bottom,” said NoCal CEO David Kaufman.
Tilted Kilt is known for its Kilt Girl servers who dress in sexy plaid kilts and revealing tops. The Tempe-based chain competes in what has been dubbed the “breastaurant” sector, competing against concepts such as Texas-based Twin Peaks and Florida-based Hooters.
Tilted Kilt has more than 80 locations across North America.
